Eli Stone Named General Manager of Wilkes County Baseball

Wilkes County-native to lead new baseball team’s business operations ahead of their inaugural season


NORTH WILKESBORO, NC – Wilkes County Baseball, proud members of the Old North State League, have announced the hiring of Eli Stone as the team’s first General Manager. Wilkes County Baseball will take the field for the first time in June 2024.


“I am excited to work with Eli and to have him on board as our first General Manager in Wilkes County,” Wilkes County Baseball Managing Partner David Schmoll said. “Eli has a tremendous amount of passion for both Wilkes County and baseball that came through during our conversations. He is the right person to lead us into our first season in the Old North State League.”


Stone is a native of Wilkes County having grown up in Wilkesboro. He is a recent graduate of Appalachian State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in public relations with a minor in sport science. During his time in Boone, he spent three years working with the Appalachian State football program as a student equipment manager before working with the athletic department as a marketing intern.


“I am very excited to be the General Manager for Wilkes County Baseball,” said Stone. “I know this team will be a great addition to the Wilkes County community and I’m looking forward to getting the season started!”
